Artist's Statement
I am a self-taught sketch artist and painter from Philadelphia. Painting for me is an exploration of the human experience and the power of feminine energy. I am inspired by the women in my life, my community, and the stories of women around the world. The sprirt of each piece invites viewers to see themselves and their stories in the image. My mediums of choice are acrylic, oil pastel, ink, and charcoal.
My process is largely instinct and intuition. My process is reflected in the layers and textures of my canvas - I want people to feel the work, to have a multi-sensory experience. I never paint without music - jazz, neo soul and afro beats. There is something powerful about following my instincts and the rhythm and seeing where I will go. What emerges comes from the deepest part of me.
I have exhibited in galleries and private shows in the US and UK, and I am grateful for my collectors around the world. I paint in my home studio in Georgia where I live with my husband and two daughters who feed my spirit every day.
